"Hey, Trinity!  Nice to see you.  Just put your things right over there and I'll get to them right after I see to this gentleman's order," Hannah promised.  "How the little feather?"
Tommy smiled and waved at Trinity while Sparks moved his attention from the general to Trinity.  "Do you want some help down?"

Trinity smiled, "Oh, sorry, that was a bit vague wasn't it. His name is Kyan Sveltsan. My name is Trinity Sveltsan."  The gryphon she was riding purred and sniffed around inquisitively, So many Gryphon smells here! Trinity turned her attention momentarily to Hannah, "If you mean Pip, he's fine, very happy, but I decided not to bring the little trouble maker." She smiled and nodded to Tommy, "Yes, Please." she began un buckling the straps that held her securely to her Gryphon's back

The name sounded familiar... "Yes, I do believe I know who you're talking about! Give him my greetings, if you would, when you see him next."

Tommy went to help Trinity down, pulling up a chair to set her in lightly.  Sparks wasn't much help as he continued to poke at Trinity with his beak and sniffing her.
Heather rolled her eyes at Sparks and started looking over the stuff that needed repairing.  Most of this should be easy enough, but some pieces looked ready to be retired to the scrap heap.

Trinity smiled and nodded, "I will, he is in the silver gryphons too if that helps." she looked at Tommy and smiled, "Thank you." she reached behind her "Hey sparks, you are awfully nosey today..." she scratched his head

(We need a plan to take this RPG somewhere...)

Nikolai nodded in response and waited quite patiently for her to finish whatever she was working on, he didn't mind the delay. In the meantime he enjoyed looking around the shop.

General Sherman leaned against the basket lashed to Cump. He pulled his binoculars down from their position on his forehead and eyed the landscape as Cump lazily wove up, down, here, and there. Cump knew how to do a surveillance mission without attracting notice.

Sparks closed his eyes and tipped his head, letting out a soft clicking purr of delight.  This head-scratching felt so good!
Tommy chuckled but looked out the open doorway.  He couldn't shake the feeling something was out there... somewhere...

Tommy shook his head.  "I don't know, just... something feels wrong.  Like there's something bad outside, but that doesn't make any sense, now does it?"

Trinity shook her head, "I'm sure its nothing." She went back to scratching Spark's head and offering him a treat from a pouch she carried.

The General reached up and tapped Cump, indicating that he wanted Cump to go topside. Once the General and Cump were above the clouds, Specialist Klem and Taz came alongside. The two rocs circled gently in the cool air above the clouds. After a few minutes of contemplation, the General pointed forward.

Taz followed Cump to the mountain; they landed on a moderately level peak where one found a fallen tree and the other a boulder upon which to perch. The General and Specialist Klem repelled down from their rocs.

“See anything, Uncle Billy?” Specialist Klem asked, while the rocs kept guard.

“Yes, as a matter of fact, I did.”

The General took off his haversack from which he pulled out a map and a feather shaft. “This is where we are.” General Sherman pointed to a mountain on the map. He slowly moved the shaft as he said, “Follow me down to this area. When I have Cump level out, we will still be fairly high above ground, but I want you observe the area carefully.” The General looked over at Klem. “Understand?”

“Yes, sir.” Specialist Klem nodded solemnly. “Follow you down. Level out. Observe and make note of all buildings, people, and animals.”

“Correct.” replied the General. “And you know,” General Sherman emphasized, tapping Specialist Klem on the chest with the shaft, “what to look for.”

The General turned his attention back to the map. “Then we will circle around a second time and do a strafing run.”

The General took a moment to look at Klem, nodded in approval, and looked back at the map. “On the third time around, this is what I want you to do . . .”

Trinity shook her head, "Not really, not anything worth mentioning. I'm home keeping the books and cooking most days so getting out like this is a treat."

Re: Flight of the Gryphons RP Play

General Sherman and Specialist Klem finished loading up their baskets, which was no easy task. After a short break and an energy replenishing refreshment for everyone, they “saddled up,” as the General liked to say.

Cump took off first and made a few ever widening circles. Taz followed suit. General Sherman gave Cump a signal, and Cump headed toward their destination. Both men were deep in thought: the General reviewing the overall strategy, the Specialist trying to tamp down his excitement as he reviewed his portion of the plan.

They were almost there. The men signaled their winged comrades to go into glide mode. Silently, the majestic rocs slid across the designated area. Both men had on their binoculars now and were meticulously studying the terrain below.

“Yes!” the General said quietly, his outer calm hiding his inner exhilaration. “It is as I thought. Finally. I have him now.”

From his position, Specialist Klem saw it as well. He had a harder time quelling his joy than the General, but the importance of this mission helped Klem keep quiet and stay – mostly – calm. He would succeed! He would not let the General down. He would not let Black Lyon down. He would succeed.

After they were safely past being noticed, General Sherman signaled Cump to return to normal flight. Klem followed suit, and Taz’s beautiful green tipped wings gracefully pressed down. Ah, how Klem loved this roc, almost as much as he loved being in the Army and serving under General Sherman. Life couldn’t get much better than this.

The General also admired the beauty of Cumps brown wings as they propelled man and roc in a wide arc, but what the General loved most about Cump was his unwavering loyalty to the General and his fierceness in battle. This was what they both lived for; this was a great day.

General Sherman had Cump make a wide circle to come in from the original direction. Specialist Klem and Taz made a ‘U’ turn to come back in from the opposition direction.

One thing General Sherman liked about their ammunition today is that it was easily available. While on the mountain, they had loaded their ‘ammunition baskets’ with rocks. Big rocks, medium rocks, small rocks. Even small rocks would cause lumps and bruises when sailing down from the sky. Medium rocks could break things, including man or animal appendages. Big rocks could damage property and kill both man and animal.

As Cump and Taz came close to the target area, they dropped like the rocks they were carrying. Cump and Taz were so close to the ground that the wind their wings churned up was like a passing tornado. Trees swayed and small unattached items went sailing. As they were dropping, Cump and Taz let out their battle cries; loud, piercing cries. In the midst of all this, it started raining rocks. General Sherman and Specialist Klem were tossing out their rocks as fast as they could. Not aiming at anything in particular, just tossing. This pass wasn’t about killing; it was about fear and confusion.

It was over in a moment. The General signaled; Cump gave his wings a mighty pump downward, and they sailed up. On the opposite side of the area, Specialist Klem and Taz mirrored their movements.

Tommy jumped back with a yell of surprise and fear as the stones came crashing down.  He had no idea what was happening, the thunder of stones deafening and stunning him.  He grabbed Trinity, pulling her back deeper into the more stabilized part of the forge and away from the fire.

Heather screamed as one of the giant stones crashed down on the very corner of the overhang, sending splinters and dust flying.  Sparks shoved her down, crouching over her and hissing protectively.  Danger!  Danger!  Heather wrapped her arms over her head and squeezed her eyes shut.  It had to be a nightmare!  Any second now she would wake up and it would all be a bad dream!

In the chaos and tumult, no one noticed General Nikolai moving toward the doorway instead of away.

Trinity clung to Tommy with a scream of terror, tucking her head down. The Gryphon that had brought her held no special interest in her safety so he fled out of the building in a panic

Cump and Taz each circled back around for the final run.

Cump came in fast and low, his cry loud and shrill. General Sherman strategically dropped three rocks slightly before and about 20 meters away from the forge. Cump and the General disappeared into the sky, the sound of Cump’s cry trailing behind.

Taz glided in from the opposite direction, dipped low, almost hit the house roof, then lifting up he silently vanished.

Specialist Klem crouched on the rooftop where Taz had dropped him. He noiselessly positioned himself. Right knee resting on the roof; left foot planted with knee bent; left elbow on knee with arm upward, barrel cradled in his hand; right hand holding the grip with index finger resting along the trigger guard. Focus. Breathe. Breath now slow, light. Pulse slowed. Focused. Hearing nothing. Waiting. Movement at the forge door. Someone cautiously moving out. A man facing away from him, looking where the last three rocks had fallen.

To the man, they looked like rocks. Rocks with straw sticking out of them. The straw was smoldering. Now there was smoke wafting into the sky. A diversion.

Specialist Klem watched as the man slowly turned, guardedly looking around. Yes. Target identified. A measured, deliberate movement of finger around the trigger. A slow, firm squeeze. The target is down, lying on his back in the mud, a large red mark on his chest.

Specialist Klem slowly stood, stopping at a slight crouch. He replaced the weapon into its sling on his back, and waited.

Taz glided into the area once again, gently griped Specialist Klem in his claw, and silently flew back into the clouds.

General Sherman and Cump had followed Taz in. The General spotted a couple of confused gryphons. The General smiled. At the sound of Cump’s cry, the two startled gryphons turned toward the screeching noise. Cump spread his wings wide, knocked down both gryphons, and followed Taz into the clouds.

Tommy held Trinity tightly, panting and heart racing from the adrenaline rush.  Wait.  It was silent.  He raised his head slowly and looked around.  It looked safe...  "I think it's done," he said, his voice loud in the sudden silence.

Heather peered out from under Sparks' wing.  Slowly, she inched out from under her Gryphon and looked around.  There was so much destruction...  and...
"General?" she whispered, staring at the body.

Tommy pulled her close, sheilding her from the sight.  "Heather?"
Heather gulped as she inched over to the body, looking around nervously.  Scurrying out, she knelt down and felt his neck for a pulse.  Finding none, she ran back inside, terrified of being out in the open.  "He's... he's dead."
